Best place in Dakar. Boucar, Jess and their helper Fatou welcome you with the most wonderful Senegalese Teranga. This home is full of joy, love and generosity. Boucar will stop at nothing to ensure you have a magical stay in Dakar. I hardly wanted to leave his home which hosts a view of The Renaissance Monument from the beautiful rooftop terrace. Tasteful Art of local artists are everywhere and Fatou the wonderful helper will offer you delicious lunch and dinner ( small contribution) and cookery course. French and English is spoken. Enjoy afternoon tea served Senegalise style. Highlight of my 2 week stay in Dakar.

I had the most amazing stay at the Fadidi house with Boucar, Jess and Fatou. I spent my first three weeks in Dakar with them and couldn't have hoped for a better start of my time in Senegal. They really took me in as part of their family and I can honestly say that they became my friends. The house itself is really nice and colourful. There is always someone around if you want to be social, but no obligation to do so whatsoever. I worked from the house during the day, and that was no issue at all. Fatou's lunches are phenomenal, the best food in Dakar I would dare to say! If you want to be surrounded by lots of art, music and good company, I would highly recommend staying in the Fadidi house!

I had a fantastic two nights with Boucar and Jessie. This place has to be the most unique, comfortable, and friendly place in Dakar! I loved the art everywhere and Boucar was very helpful with finding drivers, etc. He even took me to the market to get a SIM card for my phone. To top it all off, we were treated to a rooftop concert with INCREDIBLE and talented musicians — including Boucar and Jessie! I’ve travelled to many different places… and their warm hospitality is hard to beat! Merci beaucoup, Boucar and Jessie!! I can’t wait to come back.

What a great B&B to stay! The entire flat is covered in art. I also learned so much about the cultural life in Dakar from Boucar. The hosts took me to an evening concert and invited me to have lunch with them. Boucar also gives gym classes which guests are welcome to attend. The best parts are the HUGE rooftop full or plants and art, and the teranga hospitality which is so inspiring. My only regret is not to have stayed longer! Thank you so much!

I think I was the worst guest possible (sorry haha) with a check-in at 5am and a late checkout when there was no one at the hostel while leaving some of my things at Boucar's...Despite all this Boucar was an exceptional host always with a smile and who was very understanding and accommodating... in short, excellent! The hostel is great, I would recommend 100%, there is everything you need with a super nice rooftop to settle in with friends
Great place in Dakar!
Thank you again!

If you love Nature at her best, then head to Boucar's fresh plants, paintings and an ambience of friendliness. Boucar is more of a man of the people - great rapport with the locals at every intersection, boisterous laughter and jokes. A great host to the guests as you see him surrounded by guests at the rooftop. He is also helpful as a guide and was very useful for each time i missed my way and had to call. Boucar is a people-person. He even served us free lunch one of those days. His natural teas infusion of herbal plants also made the rounds as guests gathered round the table and sipped the aromatic blends while the atmosphere around the house smelt nice. I did go to bed one night and everywhere was scenting of basils and mint. His location is downtown so you will get a feel of real life in Dakar. Also very close to the Monument and Mamelle Beach.
Ah, did I forget Fatou? his very smiling assistant who probably feels like she is our mother while we are her brood.
I will go back again if ever in Dakar.

Very welcoming and family oriented environment. Great for a solo traveler. I loved sitting with everyone around dinner time and having a delicious shared meal made by Fatou. Guest and host have the opportunity to interact often if you want. I participated in conversations with other guests and host and was witness to a guitar jam session with another guest and Boucar in the evening. Because of the environment created, the other guests are friendly too. Boucar and Jessie are very kind and helpful. They let me check in a little early and Boucar offered me a light breakfast when I asked where the nearest bakery was. They even sent me off on the last day with a by playing and singing a fun goodbye song and hugs. With all the positives, I would definitely stay again.

Boucar and Jess have a wonderful home with a friendly environment that is the perfect introduction to Senegal. It was my first time visiting Dakar and they were a huge help with advice and explanations on local life and culture - what to see/avoid, the best market to find the famous Senegal fabrics & which galleries/museums were worth a visit + which words of Wolof might come in useful. They are very thoughtful and generous with their home and time. The house is just a few minutes walk to a great local beach and whenever I went with them they introduced me to friends while drinking one of Boucar's handpicked , homemade teas as the sunset over Dakar.
They are a very musical couple and if you are lucky you might get to see them play or rehearse during your stay and meet some local musicians. they live close to a great restaurant which serves tasty Senegalese food. There were also some fantastic home cooked meals during my visit which they invited all their guests and sometimes band members to.
My experience at their home makes me want to return to Senegal as soon as I can.

Fadidi House is a cozy artists Guesthouse in Dakar Senegal, in a quiet local neighborhood between Ouakam and Mamelles.
It is an ideal place for tourists looking for an authentic local cultural experience. Most people feel that they've found a home away from home at Fadidi.
Fadidi House has seven bedrooms; three in the main house, and two floors in Fadidi Annex, each with two bedrooms. The bottom floor has a special room called the Nomad Room, in a rustic loft for the budget traveler. The spaces are connected by a large rooftop. Each room has a double or queen bed, a desk, a shelving space, mosquito net, and AC (except no AC in the Nomad Room).
There is a shared living room and kitchen, additional common spaces, a huge rooftop oasis with tons of outdoor seating and space, a playground, a courtyard, and a visitors' bathroom. Towels, linens, and cooking basics are also included (access to spices, oil, salt & pepper).

Local chef, Fatou, serves delicious food every day for lunch Monday - Saturday. Join us and learn Senegalese eating customs around the bowl.
We are located right on the border of Ouakam and Mamelles, a short walk from the Monument de la Renaissance, the lighthouse (Le Phare des Mamelles), and a five minute walk from Loman Art Gallery. Welcome! We are Boucar (Big) and Jessie, a Senegalese & American couple who have been based in Dakar together for almost a decade, and now have a 2 year old son, Diogoye. We started doing Airbnb in 2018, and since then, Fadidi House has evolved into a popular spot in Dakar for tourists to come and discover local culture, and also experience a home away from home. Between us both, we speak French, Wolof, and English.
Big was born and raised in Dakar. He is a passionate Pan African, fitness professional, musician, and entrepreneur. Jessie is from the Pacific Northwest in the US, and first came to Dakar in 2014. She is a swim coach, musician, and entrepreneur.
Big and Jessie both play in Big's band "BIG & Sous L'Arbre Acoustik," a blend of Afro traditional music, influenced by rhythms across West Africa. We usually hold a concert once a month on the rooftop at Fadidi House. All their music is original and composed by Big. Check us out online!
